THE VISION

The Simpering Night was an idea to show the inner conflicts of a hitman who has been assigned with a task. He has been trained and guided by the words of the seniors in his syndicate, yet he has his own mind that ponders about his deeds. In the fluid motion of his thoughts, he questions his goals and motive. No hard feelings, no attachments, just a motive, yet he is different, maybe just a little more humane.

The vision was to symbolize what hitman witnesses while following a lady; whether it’s real or just an illusion. Should he go ahead with the assigned task, or should he pause for a moment and observe, maybe just a little longer.

The film also gives an in-depth insight into the life of a corporate lady who seems to be walking around he city and has a task to complete. The film explores different aspects of her relationships, her emotions, and how she handles these while staying focused on the task at hand.  The hitman witnesses all her emotions while observing her from distance, and gets a glimpse of her entire life in a short span of time. She is tensed, happy, relaxed, dedicated and also unpredictable. The hitman reaches a conclusion, however, the plot unfolds in an unpredicted manner.

Core plot of this film is to highlight the intrinsic nature of the humans and their perception, hence the film was created keeping the dreamy state of the BOY in mind.

THE MAKING

The film is as independent as it can get and was shot entirely in the heart of the silicon valley of India, Bangalore. It was shot by Abhishek Rout, using Sony A6400 mirrorless camera with Sigma DC DN Prime lenses. The entire crew roamed the city during nights to get the perfect shots and the artificial light was scarcely used. The movie beautifully captures the essence of the city in dim, as well as glowing lights, the fast lanes, and the night time glory.

Some of the shots were quite difficult, especially due to lock-down in the Covid hit areas. Bangalore was one of the worst-affected cities, and had several restrictions imposed during the entire shoot of the film. The crew however managed to capture the essence of the film and beauty of the city despite these hurdles while maintaining the protocols. Shooting at the airport was quite challenging due to security personnel and camera installed at every nook and corner. With the help of Pramoth Darshan, the team could capture some stunning shots. In the city, crowd management could get quite challenging, especially in busy streets and cafes.

The music was  created by Abhishek Rout, which captures the magic of  night as the lead. The scores were created keeping the deceiving nature of night in mind. Tracks are ''THE SIMPERING NIGHT'' and ''THE LOST MEMORIES”.
